The Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville is in the midst of a $180-million update.
When the expansion concludes, the convention center will have 200,000 square feet of event space, a 40,000-square-foot ballroom, 52 meeting rooms, a 175-seat conference theater and updated Wi-Fi.
The project is expected to be completed by summer 2018, and will increase the number of Louisville meeting prospects by 25 percent.
In addition, six new hotels are planned to open through 2018 in Louisville, including a 600-room Omni Hotel adjacent to the convention center. In total, more than 5,000 hotel rooms will be available in the city's downtown area.
