Montage Hotels & Resorts to open new resort in California wine country by 2020

Montage Hotels & Resorts revealed plans to manage and operate the new Montage Healdsburg, which will be located in California's Sonoma County. Owned by Ohana Real Estate Investors and developed by The Robert Green Company, the 130-room Montage Healdsburg will begin construction in spring 2018, and will open in spring 2020. A collection of Montage Residences is planned for a future phase of development, and will include single-family built homes as well as custom home sites.

The 258-acre resort will include 130 bungalow-style accommodations. As the first Montage location in Northern California, the resort will provide access to local wineries in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River appellations.

“We are honored to partner with Ohana Real Estate Investors and The Robert Green Company to bring Montage Healdsburg to life,” Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chairman and CEO, Montage International, said in a statement. “Montage Healdsburg will feature breathtaking views of vineyards and oak woodlands, and will provide guests with signature Montage amenities. It is destined to become a wine country landmark, and we look forward to becoming a member of the Sonoma County community.”

Montage Healdsburg will provide open-air massages at Spa Montage, as well as an infinity pool overlooking the resort’s vineyards. Also on offer will be Montage’s children’s program, Paintbox. There will also be a gourmet-dining option on offer, including a treehouse inspired private dining room and an outdoor bar and grill. The resort will also be available for weddings and receptions, all set to a backdrop of outdoor lawns overlooking the region’s vineyards.

“Montage Healdsburg will feature high-end, contemporary design that respects and highlights the unique qualities of the surrounding environment, featuring views of rolling hills, vineyards, and heritage oak trees. With natural materials and a color palette inspired by the site, the resort will offer timeless design and a true sense of place,” Alex Hill, EVP of development at Ohana, said in a statement.

Designed by GlazierLe, Delawie Architects and EDG Interior Design Firm, Montage Healdsburg will emphasize environmentally sensitive design coupled with a wine country contemporary aesthetic. The resort will include a color palette complementary to the local surroundings highlighting dark woods and earth tones.

“Since acquiring this unique property more than a decade ago, we and our partners at Ohana Real Estate Investors are excited to now bring this remarkable property in Healdsburg to fruition with the support of Montage Hotels & Resorts,” Robert S. Green, Jr., president and CEO of The Robert Green Company, said in a statement. “Montage is a superb hotel operator that will provide guests with a world-class experience in the heart of California Wine Country. Together we have taken considerable care to design an extremely environmentally sensitive project that fits naturally to the existing topography and preserves literally tens of thousands of beautiful oak trees on the property.”
