Montage Hotels & Resorts is managing a $60-million hotel in Baltimore under development by Kevin Plank, the founder of Under Armour.
The hotel will not bear the Montage name, making it the first nonbranded hotel under the Montage umbrella. Instead, the new property will operate as the Rec Pier hotel, and plans call for the restoration of a 100-year-old pier and a new 128-room hotel, which comes with a whiskey bar and a ballroom.
Sagamore Development bought the property from the city of Baltimore for $3.2 million in June 2014, and is co-developing the hotel alongside War Horse. The hotel is aiming for completion in fall 2016.
