Potawatomi Hotel & Casino opens following name change

Potawatomi Bingo Casino officially changed its name to Potawatomi Hotel & Casino and plans to open the hotel Aug. 18.

The hotel, under construction in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley since July 2012, is already accepting reservations. The $150-million building will have 381 rooms next to the casino. It will celebrate an official grand opening Oct. 1. The hotel held two job fairs in June to hire staff for the hotel.

Over the next several days, 400-pound, LED-lit letters spelling Potawatomi will be hoisted to the top of the hotel. Potawatomi announced plans for the name change in March. In May, it announced plans for a restaurant at the hotel called Locavore.
