Remington Hotels takes over management of Santa Cruz Hilton

Remington Hotels, a Dallas-based hotel-management company, took over management of the Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley, which is owned by Ashford Hospitality Trust. The ninth Remington-managed property in the San Francisco Bay area, the acquisition of this hotel marks the company's third large hotel takeover in less than six months. Remington now retains 88 properties in its collection, with continued evolution forecasted for the year ahead.

Since October 2018, Remington acquired three large hotels, including the newly built Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Midtown Manhattan—the only Embassy Suites in the market and Remington’s first hotel in New York City—as well as the La Posada de Santa Fe (N.M.).

“We will operate our newest hotels as we do all of our properties by consistently delivering outstanding results to our associates, to our guests and to the owners,” Sloan Dean, COO at Remington Hotels, said in a statement. “Take care of the associates, the associates will take care of the guests, and the rest will take care of itself."

Located minutes from South San Francisco Bay and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the 178-room Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley is designed for both business and leisure travelers. The property offers nearly 8,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event and meeting space, and California cuisine at Stonehouse Bar and Grill. Remington Hotels selected William (Billy) Gheen, the company’s 2018 General Manager of the Year, to oversee the hotel. Recently promoted to VP/GM, Gheen also manages the Fremont (Calif.) Marriott Silicon Valley.

“We are excited to grow the Remington portfolio with the acquisition of the Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley,” Stan Kennedy, SVP/operations at Remington, said in a statement. “We  welcome the property team to the Remington family and look forward to a seamless transition for our valued guests, all while delivering Remington's five drivers of success at this fantastic hotel.”
