Sheraton to open first Rwanda hotel in Kigali in 2018

Sheraton Hotel is preparing to enter Rwanda after a deal for its official establishment has been signed between Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Century Park and Hotel Residences.

In a statement, Michael Wale, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts for Europe, Africa and Middle East said that with signing of entry into the Rwanda market, Starwood is on track to increase its African portfolio by over 30 percent with more than 15 new hotels to open over the next five years.

Scheduled to open in 2018, Sheraton Kigali will mark the entry of Starwood into Rwanda and will be the company’s 50th hotel in Africa.

After signing the deal, Billy Cheung Yiu Tung, chairman of Century Park Hotel & Residences, said the agreement was reached after observing Rwanda’s impressive milestones in improving the hospitality sector.

The 136-room hotel will be located in the Gasabo district.
