STR weekly results: July 31-Aug. 6

Following seasonal patterns, U.S. hotel performance fell slightly during the week of July 31 to Aug. 6, according to the latest data from STR.

For the week (percentage change from comparable week in 2019):

  • Occupancy: 69.9 percent (-5.7 percent)
  • Average daily rate: $154.48 (+15.1 percent)
  • Revenue per available room: $108.04 (+8.5 percent)

In comparison, for the week of July 24-30:

  • Occupancy: 71.9 percent (-3.8 percent)
  • ADR: $158.32 (+18.3 percent)
  • RevPAR: $113.90 (+13.9 percent)

Top Markets

Among STR’s top 25 markets, St. Louis reported the largest occupancy increase over 2019 (+7.1 percent to 75.9 percent). Oahu Island, Hawaii, (84.6 percent), Seattle (84.8 percent) and San Diego (83.8 percent) led the major markets in absolute occupancy for the week.

San Diego posted the largest ADR gain over 2019 (+32 percent to $244.86).

The steepest RevPAR deficit was in San Francisco (-27.6 percent to $166.80).
