STR weekly results: Sept. 11-17

During the week of Sept. 11-17, U.S. hotel performance increased from the previous week and showed improved comparisons with 2019, according to STR's latest data.

For the week (percentage change from comparable week in 2019):

  • Occupancy: 69.6 percent (-2.4 percent)
  • Average daily rate: $155.58 (+15.6 percent)
  • Revenue per available room: $108.25 (+12.9 percent)

In comparison, during the week of Sept. 4-10 (percentage change from comparable week in 2019):

  • Occupancy: 61.7 percent (-11.2 percent)
  • ADR: $146.80 (+10.6 percent)
  • RevPAR: $90.50 (-1.8 percent) 

Top Markets

Among STR's top 25 markets, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va., reported the highest occupancy increase over 2019 (+6.6 percent to 70.9 percent).

Miami reported the largest ADR gain over 2019 (+30.7 percent to $177.10).

The steepest RevPAR declines were in San Francisco (-23.1 percent to $203.27) and Houston (-13 percent to $63.58).
