The Westin Wilmington opens

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened The Westin Wilmington, a newly constructed hotel at the heart of the city’s Riverfront district. Owned by a joint venture between The Buccini/Pollin Group and Westport Capital, and managed by PM Hospitality Strategies, The Westin Wilmington is directly connected to The Chase Center on the Riverfront and has 180 rooms, full-service dining at The River Rock Kitchen, meeting facilities and function space.

“We are thrilled to debut Westin Hotels in Wilmington’s dynamic Riverfront district, which has been transformed into a leading entertainment and cultural center,” said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts and Le Meridien. “Business and leisure travelers are invited to recharge and revitalize at The Westin Wilmington with the help of all the Westin brand’s signature programs and amenities, designed to send them home feeling better than when they arrived.”

Located at 818 Shipyard Drive, The Westin Wilmington provides direct access to the Chase Center on the Riverfront, the city’s meeting and convention facility. The new Westin is within close proximity of the restaurants, shops, entertainment and cultural venues in the Riverfront district including Frawley Stadium (home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks), Delaware Theatre Company, Delaware Children’s Museum, Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts and the 15-screen Penn Cinema, providing IMAX offerings. Also nearby are the offices of numerous Fortune 500 companies including Bank of America, Barclays, IBM and JP Morgan Chase.
