Questex Hospitality Group is delighted to announce that Anders Nissen will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) 2020 and Adjacent Spaces 2020.
Nissen has been CEO since Pandox’s inception, 25 years ago and, fortunately for both Pandox and the hotel industry, his first career ambition to become team captain of the Swedish national handball team, didn’t come to fruition. Pandox is one of Northern Europe’s leading hotel property owners. The portfolio comprises 156 hotels with approximately 35,000 hotel rooms in 15 countries. Currently 85% of the hotels within the portfolio are leased and 15% owner-operated.
Quoted as saying: “our beautiful, dynamic market called hospitality, is growing year on year”, Nissen is excited about the market development and enthusiastic about the future for the hotel and hospitality industry.
Nissen is also be credited for his forward-thinking approach to sustainability saying that whilst Pandox has gradually put much more focus on sustainability, the business “is aiming for an even more active role in the industry’s development going forward.”
On being announced as recipient of the IHIF Lifetime Achievement Award 2020, Nissen said: “When Pandox was founded in 1995, the hotel property market was small, fragmented and very much unloved. Today, 25 years later, hotel properties are a dynamic and attractive asset class with solid long-term fundamentals - and Pandox is one of the leading hotel property companies. Since inception Pandox has grown the value of its hotel property portfolio from 600 million SEK to more than 60 billion SEK. In my view, Pandox’s success is built on both the strong development of the global hospitality industry and our own strategy with focus on active ownership of hotel properties. But the most important explanation for our company’s success is our people. Without them nothing would have happened. So, when I accept this award I do it on behalf of all of Pandox.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented during IHIF which takes place 2-4 March 2020 at the InterContinental Berlin in a dedicated session at 16:30 on Monday 2nd March. New for 2020, the presentation of the award will be followed by a conversation with Nissen, as recipient of the IHIF Lifetime Achievement Award, and the winner of the IHIF and ISHC Young Leader Award as we celebrate the achievements of hospitality leaders at different stages of their careers and they share their thoughts on what constitutes successful hospitality strategies and their views of the future.
