The Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel unveiled plans for an update. Scheduled to begin in October 2014, the renovations will affect public areas, all of the property's 384 guestrooms and more than 7,000 square feet of meeting space.
Scheduled for completion in Spring 2015, the upcoming makeover will include enhancements to the guest rooms, meeting space, lobby, restaurant/bar and concierge lounge. The renovation will dovetail with the property's 40th anniversary.
The hotel's 7,075 square feet of existing meeting space will grow by another 4,000 square feet to befit this property's location near the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. The guestrooms will receive upgraded bathrooms (many of which will be converted to shower-only spaces) that incorporate sliding barn doors. Canada's first M Club Lounge will be built into the property as well. This concierge lounge will serve as a place for guests to work, connect and recharge and offers business services, seating options and F&B offerings.
