Carlson Rezidor to open more than 130 hotels in India

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has big plans for India in the next 10 years. The company seeks to increase its footprint in the country with an anticipated 130+ new hotels. According to Business Standard, the chain, which runs hotels under brands Radisson Blu, Radisson, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, Country Inns & Suites by Carlson in India, will focus on mid-scale hotels under management contract.

"We plan to open over 130 new hotels across India by 2024," Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group South Asia Chairman K B Kachru told PTI. " We already have 68 hotels that are operational in the country."

India has seen an increasing demand in the midscale market, which is the reason for Carlson Rezidor's push in that direction. "There is a huge middle class and above population here. With the development of new tourist sectors, the potential here is immense for the hospitality industry," Kachru says. The new openings will be primarily of Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inns & Suites by Carlson. The locations being scouted are mini metros, tourist and religious destinations.
