Schupp Companies began construction on an eight-story, 161-room Hyatt Place hotel in the Courthouse area of Arlington, Va.
Scheduled for completion in summer 2016, the $40-million project will include space for a restaurant and underground parking for 80 cars.
According to Vienna-based Schupp, the project should create more than 100 construction jobs. After it’s completed, the hotel is expected to generate annual taxes of more than of $1 million for Arlington.
Gordon and Greenberg architects, in collaboration with WDG, designed the hotel.
The project will be primarily funded by EagleBank, and Hitt Contracting will serve as the general contractor.
