In Depth: The Boutique/Lifestyle Segment

 Boutique/lifestyle hotels are the hottest concepts in the North American hotel industry. Travelers love the individuality, high energy and value offered by boutiques. Developers, too, love the concept because it gives them the freedom to build properties that reflect their design, amenity and service aesthetics. And that’s not all—boutiques can be very profitable for owners and command high resale values, too. The development pipeline is packed with boutique/lifestyle hotel projects, with 79 properties comprising 11,612 rooms set to open next year. 2017 will see 85 boutique/lifestyle hotel openings, with 152 scheduled to debut in 2018 or beyond.
