In Depth: The Full-Service Hotel Segment
Full-service hotels, which encompass both the upscale and upper-upscale industry tiers, remain the backbone of the industry. They’re in downtown convention markets, in secondary markets on highways and in office parks, and at airport and resort destinations. As a group, they’ve performed strongly post-recession, if not as spectacularly as some of their more attention-grabbing siblings. Likewise, Lodging Econometrics reports that the U.S. construction pipeline is strong as well, particularly so for the upscale industry segment.
