 Limited-service hotels have a number of advantages contributing to the segment’s growth—better margins, a lower cost to build and operate, fewer barriers to entry—and hotel companies are eager to make the most of the moment. At the end of the second quarter, there were 487 properties comprising 43,735 guestrooms in the limited-service pipeline in the United States, 29 properties with 2,813 guestrooms in the Mexico pipeline and 11 hotels with 905 guestrooms in the segment pipeline in Canada.
