Foreign investment takes center stage at NATHIC 2015

In November, investors, owners, developers, destinations, management companies and more will convene in Miami Beach to discuss and evaluate investment opportunities throughout North America.

Presented by Hotel Management magazine – November 4-6 at Miami’s iconic Fontainebleau Hotel & Resort – NATHIC 2015 will host an expected 400 attendees, covering key segments and sharing insights from some of the top names in hospitality. NATHIC aligns North America’s (Canada, U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean) leading industry experts, hotel development leaders, investors, operators, and others for a high-caliber three-day networking event.

Barry Johnson, the current Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Global FDI Association and former Founding Executive Director for SelectUSA, is the opening keynote speaker for NATHIC 2015. Barry brings a wealth of leadership experience in cross-border investment, ranging from the attraction of FDI to the U.S., to advising CEO’s on their expansion strategies into the U.S. and other markets globally. Join us as he opens the conference with a morning keynote addressing the global trends and opportunities through foreign direct investment. Following his keynote, Barry will lead a panel discussion with key public and private sector leaders on the historic opportunity of FDI in North America.

Other highlights at NATHIC will include:

Choosing Your Segment - So, you want to buy or build a hotel? Question is: Where is the best place to put your money today? What hotel segment, from economy through luxury, gives you the best chance for big returns? A group of brand development leaders will take to the stage, each looking to make the case why their segment is the best choice for investment. Who will be the most compelling and convincing? Find out during this high-charged session. This panel features Wyndham, Starwood, Best Western and Hard Rock Hotels.

Investing in North America - There’s no better time to invest in the hospitality sector, particularly in North America, where high demand, low supply and robust RevPAR typify the operating climate. But the question for any potential investor or developer is this: Should I build a hotel or buy one, or is timeshare the way to go? Hear what the experts in the industry have to say on the trends and data that support one opportunity or the other. Some of the panelists include Gerry Chase of New Castle Hotels, Ravi Patel with Hawkeye Hotels, and Greg LeBerge with Marcus & Millichap.

ROI of Hotel Design - Today’s hotel designs are stylish and sleek—no matter what segment. But they are also smart. A panel of design specialists will discuss the processes involved in building and renovating hotels, and how to get the best bang for your buck in today’s operating climate.

Moderated by Frederiq Marc with Sam Cicero, president of Cicero’s Development Corp, Jonathan Nehmer with JN+A, and Mitch Parker, COO of The Parker Company.

Unlocking Value in Secondary and Tertiary Markets powered by Lodging Econometrics and JP Ford with Brian Quinn (Red Lion Hotels), Mark Williams (The Lexington Collection) and Dan Beider (Paramount Lodging Advisors).  America’s top MSAs are not the only places where money can be made in the hotel game. Markets outside New York and San Francisco, Mexico City and Toronto, are also ripe for hotel investment and development. Data from Lodging Econometrics will show you why, while presentations from successful U.S., Canada and Mexico developers will back it up.

Dealmaking in North America - Deals are getting done at a brisk pace in North America—but how? What is the current state of lending in the hotel industry? How are other, more exotic sources of capital being used, from crowdfunding to EB-5? Where do you fit in the capital stack? Experts involved in the process will discuss the best ways to get deals done in this operating environment and what the right fit is for your particular project.  Featuring Matt Crosswy of Stonehill Strategic Capital, Naveen Kakarla with Hersha Hospitality Management and Tim Edgar of Hotel Innvestor.
