IHG opens second UK Voco hotel

CL Capital has opened a Voco hotel in the English town of Solihull in the West Midlands. Formerly the independent St. John's Hotel Solihull, the 180-room property opened under the Voco brand following a renovation of the guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and bar.

The hotel is managed by Kew Green Hotels and is the second Voco in the UK after the Voco St. David’s in Cardiff, Wales.

With more than 1,230 square meters of meeting space across 13 different rooms, the hotel can host conferences or weddings for up to 700 guests. It also has health club, indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym.

IHG launched Voco last June 2018 with a focus on conversion opportunities in the upscale segment and aims to open more than 200 Voco hotels in the next 10 years.

Since the brand’s launch, IHG has signed deals for Voco hotels in Bangkok, Cairo, Dubai and Melbourne, Hunter Valley and Yarra Valley in Australia. The brand debuted with openings on Australia’s Gold Coast as well as in Wales.

IHG has more than 340 hotels operating in the UK and Ireland, with more than 30 in the pipeline as of Q3 2018.
