The first JW Marriott hotel in Minneapolis opened last week in Bloomington, Minn., according to Commercial Property Executive. Part of Mall of America’s recent luxury expansion, the new 342-key hotel is conveniently located just minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and just a short drive from the Twin Cities themselves.

Designed by Omaha, Neb.-based DLR Group in collaboration with Design Force Corp. of Denver, JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America incorporates 342 luxurious suites, roughly 20,000 square feet of event space and a three-story lobby area. Amenities include a fitness center, signature restaurant, lobby lounge and indoor swimming pool. The property was developed by Mortenson and is owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.

“The Twin Cities region is particularly well-suited for our continued growth in the U.S.,” Mitzi Gaskins, vice president of Luxury Brand Management & Guest Experience at Marriott International, said in prepared remarks. “Minneapolis-St. Paul is one of the fastest growing areas in the Midwest and the expansion of Mall of America, designed to showcase luxury retail and hospitality concepts, is in alignment with JW Marriott’s brand ethos.”
