Meliá grows APAC footprint with new Vietnam hotel

Spain-based Meliá Hotels International has signed a deal to open a new property in Vietnam, where it operates six hotels and has another seven in the pipeline.

Meliá will take over the management of The Reed Hotel, Ninh Binh in May and following a complete refurbishment, will open it next year under the group’s wellness-focused brand, Meliá Hotels & Resorts. The property will have 160 rooms and suites, as well as facilities for meetings and events. The Ninh Binh Convention Centre, managed by Meliá, is adjacent the property.

Meliá Ninh Binh will have an infinity pool with skyline views as well as a fitness center, and will include two restaurants and a café.

"With the signing of Meliá Ninh Binh, we’re excited to bring another Meliá Hotels & Resorts property to the region, further enhancing the importance of Vietnam in APAC for the group," said Bernado Cabod, regional VP/Meliá Hotels International Asia-Pacific. "This signing is a key part of our wider expansion into APAC with a focus on 'bleisure' destinations.

There now are 20 properties currently in operation in the region and 32 properties in the pipeline that are expected to be open by 2022.
