New York – The 2014 North America Hotel Investment Conference (NATHIC) is on the horizon and this year’s conference will seek to continue off the momentum supplied by last year’s well-received show.
The Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile in Chicago will once again host NATHIC, November 19-21, as it expects to attract more than 300 hotel owners, investors, developers, operators, lenders, consultants and brand executives. Now in its sixth year, the two-day event will feature general sessions, breakout discussions and keynote speakers who will focus on relevant topics including financing, development, segment analysis, franchising, operations and technology.
Marilyn McHugh, who oversees NATHIC as VP of global events for Questex Hospitality + Travel, said this year’s event will offer lodging and real estate industry professionals a dynamic forum designed to maximize investment opportunities. “After a successful 2013 event, we could not be more excited to return to Chicago, and we look forward to an even richer educational and networking program,” she said.
This year’s agenda will look to improve on last year’s, starting with the keynote address by Jack DeBoer, chairman of Value Place and Consolidated Holdings, Inc., who will get “Up Close with HM” for a candid conversation with Stephanie Ricca, editor-in-chief of Hotel Management magazine.
NATHIC will also reprise its popular, second annual hospitality school competition “The Firing Squad: Where great ideas are executed!” Based in part on ABC’s hit show, “Shark Tank,” students from the hospitality schools at Michigan State University, DePaul University and New York University will step in front of a no-nonsense set of hotel industry veterans to present a 10-minute video proposing a new brand concept. Each team has been given strict guidelines that include an F&B concept, initial development plan/site, new build and/or conversion idea, marketing concepts, etc. Following each presentation, teams will be on the clock to answer rapid-fire questions from the panel.
Other session highlights include a “View From the Top,” where a panel of industry leaders will share views on the important issues facing today’s hotel owners, developers and investors, and “By the Numbers,” a panel on industry fundamentals and performance.
A slew of concurrent sessions, ranging from revenue management to how to be successful in secondary and tertiary markets, will round out the conference.
Topics for the event are guided by the NATHIC Advisory Board, composed of a wide spectrum of prominent hotel owners, operators, franchisors, management companies, marketers and analysts to ensure content is immediately relevant to attendees.
