Charleston, S.C., gets new boutique hotel

The Loutrel, a new 50-room boutique hotel, has opened in the historic district of Charleston, S.C. Managed by Charlestowne Hotels, the property has a porch-inspired lobby and bar, private clubroom reserved for hotel guests, a rooftop terrace and biophilic-inspired design.

“The property artfully captures both Charleston’s history and the new energy shaping the city today through engaging collaborations and inspired spaces,” Loutrel GM Gregg Hilker said.

Designed by architecture and design firm Michael Graves, The Loutrel drew inspiration from Charleston’s gardens and natural landscapes for the property's aesthetic.

Property accommodations include a mix of California king rooms, corner kings with views of the Ravenel bridge or Charleston harbor, five suites and a premier suite, with many of the rooms including balconies. All guestrooms have live botanicals and a soothing color palette of blues and grays.

The hotel also has a fitness studio with a Peloton bike and Life Fitness equipment as well as a private dining room that can be reserved for special occasions and events.

On the hotel’s mezzanine level, guests have access to a private Clubroom where they can snack throughout the day. The rooftop terrace has views of The Ravenel Bridge and many of the historic steeples that give the Holy City its name.

Both the Clubroom and the rooftop terrace, in addition to an intimate private dining room off the Veranda Lounge, are available to rent for private events. The Loutrel also offers full hotel buyout packages for groups.
