The La Castaneda Hotel has changed hands after new owner Allan Affeldt closed a deal on Monday.
“We signed the papers today and I have a big pile of keys and we are going to see if we can get into the building,” Affeldt told the Albuquerque Journal.
Affeldt and his wife Mion helped preservationists save La Posada, also a Harvey House property, through negotiations with the Santa Fe Railway.
Affeldt is also attempting to breathe life back into the Harvey House hotels in Winslow, Ariz. The two hotels are sister buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. It was the Harvey House, together with the railroad, that opened the Southwest to tourism.
