Simple structure: Womb chair and ottoman from Knoll

The Womb chair and ottoman was reportedly created after Florence Knoll asked Eero Saarinen to design a chair that was "like a basket full of pillows.”

As released by Knoll, Womb owes much of its popularity to the simple structure with indented armrests and movable cushions that enable users to lounge, sit upright or slouch.

Womb uses premium upholstery, hand-stitched using braided lockstitch technology. Its shell is made of fiberglass. Womb also uses high-density cushioning and PU-injected foam wrapped in synthetic Dacron silk. The metal parts are polished #304 grade stainless steel, resistant to chipping and flaking. Floor protective pads are included.

Womb measures 39.5 inches (width) x 35.5 inches (depth) x 37.25 inches (height). Seat height is 16 inches, while arm height is 20.5 inches.
