DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina completes $8M refresh

DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina has completed an $8 million refresh, topped by the opening of Berkeley Boathouse, a new restaurant with views of the waterfront and San Francisco skyline.

The hotel updated its lobby, exterior spaces and all guestrooms, as well as its meetings and events spaces. Meanwhile, the new restaurant has an outdoor patio, deck, fireplace, and nearby bocce ball court.

Designed by Bar Napkin, the interior of Berkeley Boathouse boasts natural light, neutral earth tones, wood tones and a variation of ocean blues and indigo hues. The space also uses woven textiles, mixed metals, water-like surfaces, varying stone patterns and artifacts such as buoys and oars to evoke the feeling of being in an authentic boathouse on the water.

Upon entering the 2,500-square-foot restaurant, guests are greeted by blue archways and a bar that seats up to 25 people. In the main dining room, which seats up to 172 guests, an array of seating options includes communal and oblong high-top tables. Also available is lounge-like seating in front of the restaurant’s stand-out feature, a fireplace with an overhead hanging hood.

The restaurant has a 2,000-square-foot deck, which has wood trellis for shade during the day and heat for cooler evenings.

Beyond the lobby entrance and adjacent to Berkeley Boathouse, the hotel’s new courtyard and patio has views of San Francisco. The bocce ball court offers place to gather and mingle, while pathways lead guests to take in the sights and sounds of Berkeley Marina.

DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina has over 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meetings and events space, including two executive meeting centers, 16 meeting rooms, and two ballrooms. The Bayview Ballroom is surrounded by windows overlooking the Berkeley Marina. For an outdoor gathering, the new courtyard and patio has over 11,000 square feet of event space and boasts city views and landscaping.

Each of the hotel’s 378 refreshed guestrooms, including five one-bedroom suites and one bi-level Presidential suite, has either a balcony or patio, with many guestrooms with views of the San Francisco Bay, city skyline and Berkeley Hills. All rooms include the Sweet Dreams by DoubleTree Sleep Experience, an in-room safe, mini-refrigerator, iron and ironing board, alarm clock, coffee maker and tea service, as well as a 48-inch LED flat-screen television, internet access and Citron Honey & Coriander by Crabtree & Evelyn bath products. Suites offer extra living space and additional amenities.

Amenities at the property include the fitness center and an indoor pool.
