Eaton Fine Art updates art for Arizona's Phoenician Resort

Eaton Fine Art, an art consultancy firm based in Austin, has completed the art program for the public spaces of The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The collection pays homage to the natural landscape of the Sonoran Desert and the local culture. A mix of media from local Arizona and Southwestern-based artists collectively illustrates the diversity of the topography and history of the region.

The artwork in the main lobby is inspired by the relationship of day and night in the Sonoran Desert, and the transitional times between the two periods. The focal piece is a commissioned metal sculpture.

Incorporating the colors of local flora and the desert landscape, tones of greens and neutrals are located throughout the art program, especially the east side of the lobby. The collection of green, textured earthenware vessels references the forms of succulents and cacti. There are also artworks with black and white strokes.

Across the lobby, the pieces reference nighttime in the desert. Artwork on the west side of the lobby references deep shadows at sunset, burning embers from a fire on the patio, and the landscape. Commissioned sculptures by a local artist flank the entry to the lower lounge. The layered wood pieces reflect the layers of sedimentary rock in the desert outside.
