Studio Hatch helms $2M renovation of Waterfront Hotel

The Waterfront Hotel, a Joie de Vivre property located in Oakland, Calif.’s Jack London Square, is set to complete a $2-million renovation. Local design firm Studio Hatch is renovating the lobby and public areas, meeting spaces, 145 guestrooms and suites.

Upon completion, the property will incorporate subtle nods to the city of Oakland and a modernized nautical-inspired interior. Inspired by its marina location, the property’s interior will transition to a lighter, brighter color palette, including pale blues, light wood, rust and coral tones.

In particular, guests will be welcomed by a nautically-inspired chandelier featuring white rope supports and glass light fixtures, beneath a high ceiling with wood paneling reminiscent of a sailboat, and a custom-printed wallcovering in the lobby reminiscent of beads of water.

Abstract artwork will pay homage to Waterfront Hotel’s location and historical landmarks of Oakland and Jack London Square, adorning the walls of guestroom corridors, reception area, and collective spaces. Specifically, the collective spaces will offer a living-room inspired environment with enlarged brass fireplace, and multiple seating options for socializing and relaxing.
