YWS, Flint Builders collaborate for $40M Thunder Valley renovation.

Thunder Valley Casino Resort in California will add 111 rooms and suites this year, following a $40-million investment that will also see the existing 297 rooms within the 17-story tower redesigned. The interior project is expected to take about 18 months to complete.

Overseeing the project are architectural and interior design firm YWS. Roseville-based Flint Builders is overseeing the build-out process.

In keeping with the property’s AAA Four Diamond resort designation, rooms and suites will have oversized marble bathrooms with European spa showers and high definition TVs, among other additions.

Thunder Valley Casino Resort is owned and operated by the United Auburn Indian Community. First opened in June 2003, it is located 30 miles east of Sacramento.

Aside from 250,000 square feet of gaming space, the property has 14 restaurants and bars, a banquet and entertainment hall that can host up to 850 guests, outdoor pool and the Coconut Bar, which has poolside food and beverage venue.

Inspired by the history of the property, the overall design maintains the originality of the existing building while adding new amenities. 

The refurbishment focused on guestrooms and hallways along with exterior painting and lighting upgrades.

As of the end of June, the total U.S. hotel construction pipeline is down just 1 percent from last year, according to Lodging Econometrics.
