Emma Williams, area director of revenue management, independent hotel portfolio, HHM, Harrisburg, Pa.

As area director of revenue management for independent collection hotels at HHM, Emma Williams is responsible for $18 million in annual guestroom revenue for a portfolio of independently branded boutique hotels in the upper-upscale market with meeting and food and beverage space in Washington D.C.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 20 years? How are you working today to develop your career for your next positions?

Though Williams loves revenue management and believes it has given her a fantastic foundation, she would like to move into operations, according to nominator Hannah Weller, HHM’s regional director of revenue. In 10 years, she would like to have been a general manager and be in a regional operations role. Her long-term goal is to be the chief operations officer for a large hotel company and her long-term dream is to have her own hotel, inn or resort. To achieve these goals, Williams is working with a GM and an assistant GM of one of her hotels to understand the operations side. She listens to [profit-and-loss] phone calls to understand expenses and does everything she can to be a part of the hotel’s day-to-day so that she can better understand the ins and outs.
