Pierce Meck, Hersha Hospitality Trust

Pierce Meck, senior associate, acquisitions and development, Hersha Hospitality Trust, Harrisburg, Pa.

As a senior associate on the acquisitions and development team for Hersha Hospitality Trust, Meck’s responsibilities include sourcing off-market deals, valuing potential investments, building relationships, drafting LOIs, managing the due diligence process during the closing of a deal, training any incoming analysts or interns, preparing the acquisitions department quarterly board book and any other ad hoc projects that are associated with a deal.

What is the most pressing challenge you’ve faced on the job in the last year? How did you resolve it?

Last year, in addition to performing his normal responsibilities, Meck refinanced a loan on The Independent Hotel in Philadelphia, according to nominator Chas Hyatt, VP acquisitions & development at Hersha. Prior to that, Meck had never worked directly with banks or dealt with a refinancing in any capacity, and he closed a total of three different deals throughout the process. To help balance his expanded responsibilities, Meck proactively engaged with Hersha colleagues across disciplines to assist and review his work, highlighting his ability to work across various departments and levels of seniority to accomplish a goal. He successfully navigated the project, and the refinancing closed without issue while he was still able to manage the diligence process for three separate transactions to ensure they also closed on time.
