OpenKey updates its universal mobile key app

OpenKey releases OpenKey version 3.5.1. The updated app boasts additional features including shared guest access, email verification and group text capabilities.

“We are always looking for new ways to make things easier for guests and hotels - allowing them to do more via our mobile key app,” said TJ Person, OpenKey CEO. “Our goal is simple - to improve the guest experience through mobile technology while reducing hotel costs. Continuing to develop and release new features of our universal keyless app helps further differentiate our technology solution.”

Key updates to OpenKey Version 3.5.1 include:

  • Shared guest access: allows hotels to issue up to four mobile keys to the same room during the same stay. Previously, guests were able to have only one key on one mobile device to access their room.
  • Email verification: allows guests to verify their email via the app which provides additional security for guests while using OpenKey's digital key.
  • Updated chat screen and features: an improved chat screen now becomes a communication hub. The updated chat feature allows guests to participate in group chat with everyone in their party.

"As we grow, we will continually evaluate more features to incorporate into our app that further enhance the value to hotels and improve the overall guest experience," said Jon Alsup, director of product development at OpenKey. "Mobile technology is constantly evolving and we'll continue to change with it to provide the very latest benefits and broadest room access options."
