The newly constructed Wood Hotel in Brumunddal, Norway, has implemented VingCard Essence mobile-access-ready door locks from Assa Abloy Global Solutions. Located within the 18-story Mjøstårnet Tower, the hotel now can ensure that security integrity and guest convenience despite the frequent entering and exiting of large numbers of visitors or residents into the building. The building also house apartments and offices.

Wood Hotel sought an access solution that could blend in seamlessly with its surroundings and not disrupt the building's décor with a commercial and bulky appearance. Using VingCard Essence's minimalistic approach, the hotel was able to achieve this goal because all electronic components are encased within the door itself, with only a door handle and radio frequency ID/Bluetooth Low Energy reader visible.

As a result of Mjøstårnet tower's multipurpose role, VingCard Essence's advanced security abilities are vital in ensuring safe and authorized access throughout all areas of the hotel. For example, the solution uses the latest security encryption protocols to eliminate any risk of unauthorized keycard cloning. When used in online mode, VingCard Essence allows staff to instantly cancel lost or stolen keycards and can alert staff if someone is attempting to use a keycard on multiple doors.
