Wyoming resort adds Spot Trace tracking features

As part of a new partnership with Albany Lodge—a recreational hunting, camping, fishing and hiking resort in Laramie, Wyo.—Globalstar subsidiary Spot has outfitted the resort with Spot Trace, a line of satellite tracking devices.

The units will help the property team keep an eye on its fleet of more than 50 snowmobiles, kayaks and utility terrain vehicles. The property also is using Spot X, two-way satellite messaging devices for employee trail guides. The Trace devices use Spot’s Premium Mapping product, which lets the lodge’s team track all rental units, helping protect visitors venturing off the grid and beyond cellular service.

“Albany Lodge is the perfect partner for Spot,” said Bruce Levelle, national sales manager for Spot. “The resort has a robust rental program, and with Spot Trace devices, it allows for easy GPS location and movement monitoring, alerts and tracking utilization.”

The lodge sits adjacent to Medicine Bow National Forest, where guests can go snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and UTVing. With over a million acres of park exploration available to Albany Lodge visitors, the ability to stay connected is a necessity for both guests and employees. With Spot’s geofencing capability, the lodge will know when vehicles enter and exit areas within the landscape.

“Our field guides have already come to rely on Spot products,” said David Wright, owner of Albany Lodge. “In fact, we recently experienced a situation with one of our groomers who activated his Spot device SOS when he fell in a ravine. With safety always at the heart of our operations, this partnership was a natural fit for us.”
