The owner of the Westin Harbour Island hotel in Tampa, Fla., is selling the hotel and surrounding property, including a restaurant, to Blackstone Group for a reported $49.5 million. Wilder Corp. has owned the property since 2005, reports The Tampa Tribune.
Collectively called Knights Point, the complex sits at 601 S. Harbour Island Blvd. at the northwest corner of Harbour Island, where a bridge from downtown Tampa meets the island.
Wilder originally bought the overall set of parcels in 2005 for a total of about $32.8 million.
The 12-story Westin has been a signature hotel in the downtown district, and the Jackson’s site has long been a popular waterfront restaurant.
“Blackstone had been leasing some property there from us before,” Wilder said, “and then they suggested they wanted to buy it two months ago.”
In addition to the Westin, Blackstone also reportedly acquired a Homewood Suites near Richmond, Va., for $8.8 million.
