Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed a deal with owner and operator United Investments Portugal to open the Sheraton Cascais Resort in Portugal's upmarket resort town of Cascais. The hotel previously operated as the Vivamarinha Hotel & Suites.
When it opens on February 24 under a franchise agreement with Starwood, the hotel will be the third Sheraton in the country, following the Sheraton Lisbon Hotel & Spa and the Sheraton Porto Hotel & Spa.
“We have successfully partnered with United Investments Portugal for over 24-years at Pine Cliffs, a Luxury Collection Resort in the Algarve,” Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East, said in a statement, noting that the brand is looking to open 150 new Sheraton hotels around the globe by 2020.
