Want to know what locations have the highest-regarded hotels? Trivago UK has you covered. According to the annual Reputation Ranking released by the hotel comparison website, Sanya in China has the most highly rated hotels in the world.
The list of 100 cities, which is published at the beginning of each year, ranks global destinations according to the reputation of their hotels. Each destination is given an index, which is based on over 140 million hotel reviews and ratings aggregated from over 200 booking sites worldwide. In order to make the comparison fair, only hotels with at least 60 reviews and cities with at least 130 hotels are included.

Sanya boasts the most liked hotels in the world (pictured here is the InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort), with an index of 86.94 percent. The city on Hainan Island has become a popular tourist destination and contains a large number of high-rise resort hotels, typically praised for their value, facilities, service and location.
The survey wasn't just about how expensive each destination was in regard to hotels. Eight of the top 10 boasted an average price per night of less than $150 during 2014.
The U.S. clocked in with five destinations among the top 30: The aforementioned Sedona; Naples, Fla. (23); Scottsdale, Ariz. (25); Chicago (26); Charleston, S.C. (27).
