Hyatt, Starwood to offer free Wi-Fi access

Hyatt Hotels Corp. plans to offer free Wi-Fi at all Hyatt hotels worldwide beginning in February. Travelers will be able to access free Wi-Fi on an unlimited number of mobile devices or laptops in Hyatt-branded hotel guest rooms and social spaces. Beginning Feb. 2, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. is offering free standard in-room Internet access for Starwood Preferred Guest members who book through Starwood’s digital channels.

Hyatt hotels have offered Wi-Fi at no charge to guests in several of its brands and to elite members of the Hyatt Gold Passport loyalty program. Expanding free Wi-Fi is part of Hyatt’s ongoing focus to make the guest experience more seamless. Where available, Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond and Platinum tier members will receive a complimentary upgrade to premium Wi-Fi service.
 
SPG members who book their hotel stays through Starwood’s digital channels, including the company’s corporate, brand websites, mobile sites and the SPG app, can get free in-room Internet access. Starwood’s digital channels have seen increased popularity among guests and SPG members. The SPG app has seen the fastest growth in bookings across SPG’s digital platforms experiencing nearly 60 percent growth in the last year, the company says. In total, all of Starwood’s digital channels have seen more than 10 percent growth, and now, Starwood is rewarding guests who book through its platforms with the services they want.
