Best Western Hotels & Resorts has purchased cage-free egg credits as part of its effort to advance its global commitment to source 100 percent cage-free eggs.
The Open Wing Alliance—a coalition of 82 organizations focused on animal welfare—said the purchase fulfills a pledge Best Western made after the organization paused its campaign against the hotel company in October 2025. The OWA said Best Western's investment in cage-free credits supports producers transitioning to cage-free systems while advancing the company's stated animal welfare objectives across its supply chain.
According to the OWA, cage-free egg credits are intended to support certified cage-free egg producers while helping companies address temporary supply constraints in developing markets.
“Best Western continues to back up its global 100 percent cage-free egg commitment with meaningful action,” Brooke Fane, senior global campaigns lead at OWA, said in a statement. “By following through on its promise to purchase cage-free credits, Best Western has demonstrated that companies don't need to wait for perfect supply conditions before taking action.”
