Urban Street Development expands Florida hotel

South-Florida based developer Urban Street Development is expanding the three-year-old Hotel Indigo in Tallahassee, Fla., in the city's CollegeTown district. The expansion will add 84 new hotel rooms to its existing 143-room capacity, bringing the total number of rooms to 231. The project is scheduled to break ground in the spring, with an estimated completion date set for 14 months later.

The expansion will encompass 60,000 square feet, introducing 5,500 square feet of retail space, facing Doak Campbell at Gaines Street with Woodward Avenue roundabout.

“The expansion of our hotel compliments the mission of CollegeTown, by providing an elevated experience while attracting more visitors, which will further drive the economic engine for our local district businesses,” Urban Street Development Co-Founder Alan Hooper said in a statement.

The expansion project will be an addition to the west side of the existing building, preserving the charm and character. USD has partnered with Ai3, the same firm that shaped the existing structure. The design will remain consistent, ensuring the expansion complements the hotel's aesthetics seamlessly. Parking is provided as part of an existing off-site agreement at the CollegeTown garage.

Hotel Indigo has concrete floors, black brick walls and industrial flourishes. InterContinental Hotels Group operates the seven-story boutique hotel.
