The Hilton Garden Inn Dana Point in Southern California has completed a major renovation to both its interior and exterior. Formerly a Doubletree Suites, the conversion includes all-new guestrooms and bathrooms, redesigned public spaces and upgraded food and beverage spaces. The hotel is managed by HRI Hospitality, who spearheaded the renovation and rebranding through their in-house development and construction team, with design and technical support from Studio 11 Design.
Design
The property’s new aesthetic evokes coastal living through bright colors with bold patterns. A palette of soft blues and greens, accented by vibrant yellows, light wood tones and warm neutrals, reflects the sea, land and sky. Natural materials like fluted wood, rattan and woven textures are prominent throughout the property, creating a tactile connection to the outdoors. Nautical elements such as seashells, waves and surfboards introduce playful, curvaceous shapes.
Guestrooms & Suites
The hotel’s 198 guestrooms have a color palette of soft blues, sandy neutrals and crisp whites alongside pops of color to create a modern yet organic ambiance. New furniture includes sand-inspired white sofas, modern carpeting, neutral headboards, bright pillows, colorful coffee tables, soft lighting, decorative accent wall coverings and trendy artwork. Upgraded balcony amenities include outdoor tables and chairs. Guest bathrooms boast backlit mirrors, upgraded vanities and step-in showers, which have been elevated with shiny glass doors.
Food and Beverage
The hotel’s food and beverage concepts include a revitalized lobby bar and an addition to the on-site restaurant, Doheny Surf. The new lobby bar has a custom shelf and ceiling beam feature; neutral, earthy chairs; dusty pink and cream banquettes and blue bar tiles lining the bar wall.
Signature restaurant Doheny Surf has upgraded finishes throughout the space including black and natural wood chairs, deep blue and tan banquettes, and ocean blue wallcoverings lined with beach-inspired artwork.
Located on the fourth floor, Longboard Rooftop Lounge has updated furniture throughout including plush gray couches and chairs, light yellow and cream pillows, white tables and blue accented chairs. Blue and white tiles line the bar to create a floral mosaic.
Public Spaces
The lobby has a new bar, seating areas and modern furnishings along with coastal-inspired décor. Two custom surfboards created by internationally known designer, R’Sleigh, hang behind the reception desk.
Additional renovated public spaces include an expanded fitness center with new Precor fitness equipment, Peloton bikes and a dedicated strength and stretching zone. The outdoor pool has been updated with white lounge chairs and tables, plush light gray couches and colorful towels. Public restrooms have been updated with deep blue tiles lining the sink wall and with new vanities, touchless faucets and soap dispensers. All meeting spaces have been renovated with blue chairs, natural wood tables and modern carpet and wallcoverings. The renovation also includes the unveiling of a new boardroom for meetings and groups, featuring a 12-seated conference table with integrated power and high-back task chairs.
Exterior
The exterior building has been painted a soft blue and white with plants placed around the exterior. To improve the check-in process, a circular driveway was incorporated and includes a dedicated drop-off area in front of the reception desk.
