Highgate Hotels to convert Atlanta boutique into The Burgess Hotel

Highgate Hotels is flipping a boutique Atlanta property into what will become The Burgess Hotel. The $11 million renovation began last fall and is expected to be completed by January following a full rebranding.

Located in Atlanta's upscale Buckhead neighborhood known for its restaurants and shopping, the revamped five-story, luxury, boutique hotel will add to Highgate’s growing portfolio of more than 100 hotels worldwide. The Burgess Hotel will receive a propertywide redesign consisting of a complete renovation of the property's 100 guestrooms and bathrooms, new furnishings throughout, a revamped lobby with a new first-floor layout and the addition of a presidential suite, as well as exterior work, new windows and an upgraded HVAC. The renovation also will include a new full-service destination restaurant, a separate lobby bar with adjacent lounge, meeting rooms, a fitness center and an outdoor pool.

Cumming Construction Management, an international construction consultancy, has been engaged by Highgate to oversee all pre-construction phases of the renovation.

“As experts in hospitality construction and development projects, we are determined to transform this hotel into one of the area’s premier lodging destinations. We know it is a very competitive market and the boutique style of the hotel will position it among the best,” Jeff Birenbaum, a managing director at Cumming. “In this neighborhood you really have to pay attention to all the small details that add up to a guest’s overall experience. Travelers visiting Buckhead expect an upscale, yet comfortable hotel, and The Burgess Hotel will be just that.”
