IHG, Range Developments reflag Caribbean resort

IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property on the Caribbean island of Dominica. A conversion and renovation of a former Kempinski resort, the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa will be the brand’s third Caribbean resort hotel upon its planned spring 2023 reopening.

Located along Douglas Bay on the island’s northwest side, the 151-room property will have four outdoor pools, four restaurants, a spa, a fitness center and a beach as well as 8,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space and an onsite business center.

IHG Hotels & Resorts will lead the resort’s renovations alongside owner Range Developments, a hospitality investment and development company that also is developing two IHG-branded resorts in Grenada: the Six Senses La Sagesse (projected to open in fourth quarter 2023) and the InterContinental Resort La Sagesse (projected to open in first quarter 2025).

“We’re pleased to collaborate with Range Developments and local government leaders to expand our presence in the Caribbean and introduce our latest IHG-branded resort property within an emerging travel hot spot,” Alex Kuhl, VP of development lifestyle, luxury, & premium brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement.

As of Q3 2022, 19 of IHG's 208 open global properties are based across South and Central America, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean, and four regional hotels are among the 84 in the brand’s global pipeline.
