New data from Navan indicates that corporate travel demand tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup is increasing across North American host markets.
According to the business travel and expense management platform, hotel and flight booking volumes for World Cup host cities are up 46 percent in the U.S. and 295 percent in Canada compared with the same period in 2025.
In the U.S., average hotel booking costs rose 30 percent year-over-year to $1,592 per trip. Among U.S. host markets, the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York/New Jersey region generated the highest hotel and flight booking volumes. Average hotel booking costs were $1,641 in the Bay Area and $1,836 in the New York/New Jersey market, which will host the tournament final.
Los Angeles emerged as the leading destination for bleisure travel during the tournament period. Navan reported that Saturday-night stayovers increased from 44 percent to 52 percent, while hotel and flight bookings to the market rose 163 percent year over year.
“While headlines right now are focusing on softer-than-expected tourism demand and lagging leisure hotel bookings, our corporate data tells a different story,” Dane Molter, SVP, Navan Group Travel Marketplace, said in a statement. “Companies are embracing the World Cup as the ultimate can’t miss event and travel to North America is surging.”
Within Canada, Toronto led the growth, with combined hotel and flight booking spend increasing 486 percent. Flight prices to Canada during the tournament period were down 26 percent compared with the same period in 2025.
The technology sector accounted for 51 percent of total hotel and flight booking spend in host cities during the World Cup period, according to Palo Alto, Calif.-based Navan. Professional services posted the fastest growth, with booking spend increasing 130 percent compared with the same period last year.
Travelers are also booking farther in advance. Flights to Toronto for the World Cup period are being booked an average of 119 days ahead of travel, compared with 69 days during the same period in 2025. In Philadelphia, hotel bookings are being made 91 days in advance on average, up from 59 days last year.
