Construction begins on AC Hotel in Hawaii

R.D. Olson Construction broke ground last week on the AC Hotel by Marriott Wailea in Hawaii, with completion anticipated for fall 2020. The general contracting firm is building the hotel for Ike Place Hotels and will be working with R.D. Olson Development, Architects Hawaii and Sand Design on the project.

The planned 110-room hotel will offer a mix of one-bedroom suites and studio options. The property will feature ocean- and mountain-view room choices with private lanais. Amenities will include a business center, a fitness area and an infinity pool with a tiki bar and cabanas. The hotel will be located near The Shops at Wailea, a shopping mall with more than 70 shops, restaurants and entertainment options.

“We’re honored to partner with Ike Place Hotels to build a new, contemporary estate hotel for couples and young travelers—a previously underserved tourist population for beautiful Wailea,” Bill Wilhelm, president of R.D. Olson Construction, said in a statement.
