Hilton to open Curio Collection hotel in Austrian Alps

Hilton has inked a management agreement with Kitz Immobilieninvest to open the Grand Tirolia Hotel Kitzbuhel, Curio Collection by Hilton, later this year. The 81-room hotel will be Hilton’s first in Kitzbuhel, a small Alpine resort town east of Innsbruck in the western Austrian province of Tyrol.

“Kitzbuhel is one of the leading Alpine resorts," said Patrick Fitzgibbon, SVP of development, EMEA at Hilton, in a statement. "A renowned sporting and year-round destination, Kitzbuhel hosts a number of high-profile events, including the famous Hahnenkamm-Rennen ski race and the Austrian Tennis Open. We look forward to officially welcoming guests to Grand Tirolia Hotel Kitzbuhel, the first Curio Collection by Hilton property in the beautiful Alps region of Austria in the coming months.”

Kitzbuhel has one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps, and with more than 200 kilometers of ski slopes, Kitzbuhel and its neighboring towns make up one of the largest ski regions in Austria. In the summer, Kitzbuhel is a popular destination for health and sport enthusiasts with several spas, golf courses, tennis courts, and hiking and biking trails in the area.

Grand Tirolia Hotel Kitzbuhel is a multi-facility resort. The hotel includes four restaurants and bars, a ballroom and three meeting rooms and fitness facilities. The spa, which covers nearly 2,500 square meters, includes indoor and outdoor heated pools, 11 treatment rooms and six saunas. Adjacent to the hotel is the 18-hole Eichenheim golf course, one of four in Kitzbuhel.

Hilton's Curio Collection is rapidly expanding in Europe, with 25 properties open or under development. New openings in 2018 include Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Niepce Paris Hotel, Maison Astor Paris, V Hotel Dubai and Grand Hotel Villa Torretta Milan Sesto. All are tagged Curio Collection by Hilton.
