Marriott International has signed a contract with Tulum, Mexico-based investment company Grupo Elise to bring the company’s Moxy Hotels brand to Mexico.
The hotel will be in Mexico City close to the Roma Norte neighborhood. Construction on the Moxy Mexico City is expected to begin in late 2020, with the opening scheduled for 2022. The property will have 120 guestrooms (described by Marriott as “small yet cozy”) along with communal spaces for socializing. The hotel will have a “vibrant” food and beverage program with a 24/7 grab-and-go market and “amped-up” bar.
“Moxy is a great fit for Mexico City,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer, Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “We see significant potential for this brand throughout Mexico and Latin America.”
Moxy currently operates 50 hotels open across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
