Marriott International has entered into an agreement with Egyptian real estate company Landmark Sabbour to bring its W brand to Cairo.
Expected to open in 2024, the W Cairo will be located in 1-Ninety, a 300,000-square-meter mixed-use development in the emerging New Cairo district with retail space, commercial and residential components, 25 kilometers from Cairo International Airport. The development is helmed by Landmark Sabbour with a total investment of EGP 28 billion ($1.75 billion). 1-Ninety will have an additional hotel beyond the W and two serviced apartment buildings, also under Marriott's management.
“New Cairo is a burgeoning, dynamic lifestyle destination in Cairo, and we are excited to collaborate with Landmark Sabbour to redefine modern luxury in one of the most awe-inspiring travel destinations in the world,” said Alex Kyriakidis, president/managing director, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International. “This signing not only illustrates our commitment to Egypt but also reinforces the increasing demand for the W Hotels brand in this region and around the globe.”
The 350-room hotel will have a pool deck, a spa and fitness center as well as "multiple" food and beverage venues and meetings and events venues that will include a 500-square-meter Great Room.
