Oakwood readies new Melbourne development

Oakwood, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mapletree Investments, is expanding into Australia's luxury hotel and serviced apartments segment with the signing of Oakwood Premier Melbourne, slated to open in Q1 2022 in the city's Southbank district.

The complex will be part of a new-build, 40-story tower in the Fishermans Bend development, and will have a total of 392 accommodations: 154 guestrooms and 238 studio, one- and two-bedroom serviced apartments.

Proposed facilities within Oakwood Premier Melbourne include an all-day dining restaurant, meeting venues, a lobby bar and fitness center, as well as retail spaces. Sky Bar Melbourne will offer city views.

Located along the southern banks of the Yarra River, Oakwood Premier Melbourne will be close to several corporate office buildings and key international and regional financial institutions, as well as the Melbourne Convention Centre.

Oakwood was tapped by Yarra Hotel Group (through its advisory firm Prime Square) to operate the complex. The signing follows the recent announcement of Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Dandenong in April.
