AC Hotels opens first Michigan location in Grand Rapids

The AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown opened in Michigan Monday. AHC+Hospitality manages the location, AC Hotels’ first in the state.

The 130-room hotel was converted from a 127-year-old warehouse. Located in Grand Rapids’ downtown area, the hotel is within walking distance of the Van Andel Arena and DeVos Convention Center.

The property will feature two typical AC Hotels food-and-beverage spaces. The AC Kitchen will serve a European-inspired breakfast and the AC Lounge will offer alcoholic drinks and tapas-style small bites.

Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, an AC Store and an AC Library. Additionally, the hotel will feature a rotating guest speaker series and temporary art exhibits.

“From our lobby to our guestrooms, our minimalist aesthetic is intended to allow business and leisure travelers to relax, unwind and connect with the city,” Ryan Schmied, general manager of the hotel, said in a statement. “We hope to create a sense of community for both our hotel guests and local residents by hosting a series of events that will capture Grand Rapids’ essence and history.”
