Historic Atlanta hotel rebrands, joins Hilton's Curio Collection

Atlanta's Hotel Midtown, formerly the W Atlanta Midtown, has rebranded as The Starling Atlanta Midtown and has joined the Curio Collection by Hilton. The Starling marks the soft brand’s second property in the Atlanta area.

The 466-room hotel’s new identity pays homage to its home in “the city in the forest” and was named for the bird that can be found in nearby Piedmont Park. The rebrand includes updates to both the hotel spa—rebranded as The Spa at The Starling—and to the lobby bar, which will now be called Lantana.

“We are thrilled to unveil our new name and identity,” The Starling General Manager Kathryn Day said in a statement. “Atlanta is constantly growing and changing. Likewise, our history is layered and ever-changing. We aim to embody our city’s edge and energy, while infusing a bold sense of bespoke consideration to be a home for the larger Atlanta community and the next generation of travelers.”

Public spaces have floral ceiling prints and framed birds that further reflect the city’s parks, gardens and trails. The property—originally built in 1973 and most recently renovated in 2019—also has murals of local cultural figures and musicians.

The hotel also has 45,500 square feet of meeting space, including 9,400 square feet of ballroom space and a top-floor event space, as well as a terrace pool, a lobby lounge, a spa and a fitness center.
